On Saturday evening we took a double decker bus (which Nevi had been dying to do)down the way along the Singapore River. Then we walked for awhile and ended up in Boat Quay. We chose a resturant along the river and Devin proceeded to order FROG for his dinner. Yup- that there is the frog he ate...maybe along with his brother cause his dinner plate was full! He loved it. Nevi and I- we had noodles and mango chicken and rice...a bit less adventurous!A lovely evening in a fun area of Singapore. Then we walked along the river all the way home to our friend's condo. Delight.
Our family will be living in Johor Bahru, Malaysia for at least a year ...keep track of us as we journal our adventures and daily experiences.

Sunday at the Singapore Zoo
Jungle Breakfast with the Orang Utans
We started our Sunday with the Jungle Breakfast with the Orang Utans. It was a huge buffet of both local and western cuisine. The open aired space was right next to the Orang Utan habitat. Then about 30 minutes in- the Orang Utans are welcomed closer to the tables for their breakfast...yup right there near our table! This is our family photo with the beauties. Notice the Mama with her 1 year old baby. Such incredible apes! This was yet another wonderful surprise in celebration of Nevi's sixth birthday.
White tiger, Python and Elephant Show
Yup Mama looked the other way while Nevi held a small python...yuck. The white tigers mesmerized us all and the Elepahnt show was impressive but also broke my heart. After living in Kenya years ago studying elephants- I just can't bare to see them in a zoo- but they are glorious creatures no matter where they live.

Nevi is Six today
At 1:58 pm on August 7th, 2003~ Genevieve Winthrop Bailly was born! Yippee. And today as we settle in Malaysia~ Nevi turns six. My how the time flies and how incredible all of the changes in one person can be in six years. Nevi is a reader, she loves soccer & dancing, swimming and music. She loves people- her family and her friends. Nevi is observant, intuitive, compassionate, high energy, physically coordinated, stubborn, rhythmical, and adorable. We are so fortunate that this child came into our lives. I thank the powers that be everyday that I get to be her mother. Happy Birthday, Genevieve.
We are off to Singapore for a birthday weekend filled with child fun activities: Sentosa Island to play at the luge park, go to Underwater World and see a pink Dolphin show, Jungle breakfast with the Orang Untans on Sunday and a day at the Singapore Zoo including the water park! Stay tuned- I am sure there will be lots of pictures to share along the way or when we return!
If you would like to wish Nevi a happy birthday- please feel free to email her a note at saplingsarah@gmail.com !
