Our new home

This is the view off the back deck~ right into the beautiful woods!
This view is from the road in front-
This is walking down the path to the front door
Here is the front door to the left and the stairs to the deck in front~ can you believe this is a 7 minute drive from downtown Portland????

We are so lucky to be renting a house for the school year in SW Portland. It is in a lovely intentional community with 15 homes on 8 acres. It is so peaceful. As strange as it feels to be in a different location....we feel so blessed. More pictures later as I continue to unload boxes! But we have landed- now we just have to adjust!

Goodbye JB

This morning we left our apartment...drove away from Pulai Springs....through Johor Bahru....over the causeway....into Singapore. Such tears of goodbye- amazing to feel a years worth of memories and adventure coming to an end. We spent a peaceful rainy day in Singapore. Soon off to sleep...and bright and early off to Singapore Changi Airport. At 9:15 am we fly to Seoul, S. Korea.....onto San Fran. Switch planes and fly up to PORTLAND,OREGON. Home.
Stay tuned for leaving pictures of Malaysia...and welcome home pictures in Oregon. What an incredible journey....family journey- personal journey- journey of motherhood- journey of culture- journey of color.....endless. The world is filled with beautiful people, places, rituals, customs, colors, faces and friendships. Feeling exhausted and blessed. Stay tuned.

Aunties

Aida, Ani and Ikin with Genevieve. These beautiful ladies work in the restaurant here at Pulai Springs. They have made our life here beautiful...and each of them is beautiful in her own right. How we will miss these beautiful people we have been blessed to cross paths with~

More beautiful friends

Having your apartment on a Resort has some serious perks. One being that these beautiful woman came to clean our unit. I cleaned too don't get the wrong idea. But these beautiful woman became a part of our family as they nurtured us with clean sheets, clean towels and laughter. Ena and Radasha (sp?) spoke very little English...but no matter. Our smiles, giggles and a little of each other's language took us where we need to go to find understanding. They thought I was amazing because I did cook for my family, and I did the laundry and I cleaned along with them. So many people here have maids- not just westerners......many locals have maids....so I think they thought I was quite different without live in help. I kept trying to explain- at home I am the maid, the cook, the nurse, the bus driver....and I kept trying to explain how grateful I was for them.....every time they rang the doorbell and giggled! Today, Nevi and I gave them each a pair of pink stud earrings as a thank you. Sure we could not tell if they had pierced ears.....but they were grateful all the same! And then we had a photo session- they with their cell phones and us with our camera......all the configurations- then we shook hands and placed our hand on our hearts- the Malay goodbye. And we all had glimmering eyes- so true a relationship between women. Never shall we forget.

Tonight's Majesty

Just as I put our little one to bed- I came out to this sight~ sunset and the chiming Mosque's through the trees. Nothing more peaceful~
