Thanks to my sweet Mom asking...I guess telling you about the new opening picture is a good idea! Those luscious green hills are in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia. The mountainous region about 7.5 hours drive north of Johor Bahru. Those are tea bushes you see sculpted into the landscape. Truly breathtaking.

Dinner last night

Ok it has been awhile since I posted a meal. Last night I made up a recipe. It is Pumpkin Spinach Curry with Roti. Melt butter and olive oil in pan
Add curry spices (either a blend or separate) cumin, turmeric, curry powder etc
add onion, fresh ginger, Green beans, cabbage, peas anything
slightly pre-cook cubed pumpkin/squash and potatoes
add to mix
add one small box/can coconut milk
add salt and pepper to taste

Serve warm with rice or with Roti ( or nan or tortilla or anything bread like)

Nevi and Devin were invited to be blessed with ash/chalk on the forehead.

Something that is really interesting here- families ask to take Nevi's picture all the time. Or they just take her picture. She stands beside their children or in with the whole gang. Not sure if it is because light skin and blonde hair is so rare around here or what....sometimes Nevi is not so sure about this practice, but other times she gives in and smiles brightly.

Ok now that we have documented Halloween- here we are back at the Batu Caves and the week long road trip we took!

while we were at the temple, we witnessed this pilgrim making his way up the 200+ stairs on his knees in homage. Seriously, inspiring. Made me think about faith.
