When we lived at home, Genevieve loved to dress up. She would go to her dress up box and choose all kinds of wild outfits...hoolah girl, mermaid, princess, dancer, gymnast, on and on. Tonight after we had a long swim, some sunshine, a nice shower...she wanted to dress up. Now, she chooses her Saree, BajuKarung, Cheong Sam, Indonesian Batik outfit....if nothing else, culture has seeped into this child's psyche through traditional dress. It is no longer "dress up" as in make believe...it is real as in cultural tradition. Thank you to Beena who brought this saree to Genevieve from India. Tomorrow evening we are off to a Chinese Wedding Banquet....perhaps her Cheong Sam will be appropriate!
